Build Tree Trunk Legs…Even If You’re Busy For The Holidays

The holidays can be a tough time of year to stay in shape. Usually people eat poorly and there’s not a lot of time to work out due to Christmas parties and spending copious amounts of time with family and friends.

But just because you may not have as much time doesn’t mean you can’t build up some massive quads, calves, and hamstrings. At the very least, you’ll be able to maintain the muscle that you already have on board.

These quick leg blasting workouts will save you time during the holiday season and help your legs go from candy canes to Christmas trees in no time.

1. Do HIIT Training Sprints

Have you ever seen those sprinters at the Olympics? Those guys do a lot of running but they are far from skinny. In fact, they have some pretty massive legs because they do a lot of sprinting in short bursts. HIIT or high intensity interval training involves doing 4-10 sets of sprinting as fast as you can for 20-30 seconds followed by a period of rest for 30-90 seconds, depending on your fitness level. The workout takes less than 15 minutes and your legs will be burning.

2. Step-ups

Don’t have time to go to the gym? All you need are some dumbbells and a step and you can get in a rowdy leg work out that takes less than 20 minutes. Place a dumbbell in each hand and alternate legs stepping up and down. Step-ups really work the glutes and quads.  You can also place a weight bar across your shoulders instead of using dumbbells.

3. Lunges

Lunges are one of the most effective ways to build massive trunks as they tax the entire leg causing major muscle contractions. To do lunges effectively they should be performed forward, backwards, and side to side. If you want to build pure size then lunges are the way to go and they don’t take much time to do.

For the best results switch up these workouts to keep your leg muscles confused. If you work hard enough then all you’ll have to do is one of these leg workouts once per week. Make sure you stretch for a good 5-10 minutes beforehand to avoid injury.
